Lift tickets are expensive. Just another reason we all wished money grew on trees, right? The occasional one-day special or discounted coupon comes around and we jump on it faster than you can say "POW day," but no sale (at least of recent memory) has come close to offering skiers and riders such an extended discount on their day passes as Snowshoe Mountain's new e-store -- set to be market-tested by West Virginia skiers and riders this month.

The resort's new online lift ticket “e-Store” will guarantee the lowest lift ticket prices for guests who are willing to lock in non-refundable, date specific tickets – similar to online airline bookings. Committing to a day of awesome skiing or riding? Yeah, that should be no problem.

“The e-store will offer savings up to 50% on lift ticket rack rates. It’s similar to auction and travel sites as we will offer an ever-changing volume of deals based on dates, quantities and conditions,” explains Snowshoe Marketing Director Dave Dekema. “Customers will be motivated to buy when they see a deal they like because great offers have the potential of going away as the booking window closes.”

It's pretty ingenious in fact. When a customer finalizes a lift ticket purchase on the e-store, they will be asked to confirm the dates, and will be reminded that the purchases are non-refundable.  They will receive a barcode voucher in an email, which will then instruct them to bring it to any ticket sales office at Snowshoe.

“The e-store test is scheduled to last through the end of January, however, it has the potential of being permanently implemented if the program is successful,” Dekema explains.

The resort hopes to include season passes, event tickets and more, permanently changing the way the resort prices and sells its products.

The e-store is currently available from now until January 31, 2013.
