Ski free at 41 resorts in four states, when you put ten gallons in the tank at a participating Shell station. The SKI FREE® deal is good in California, Colorado, Michigan, and Oregon, at participating resorts.
It’s a great deal, but it is specific. Here is how it works:
- Purchase 10 gallons or more of Shell fuel, at a participating station.
- Read and accept SKI FREE® voucher terms and conditions by printing and signing your name.
- Shell station attendant will stamp voucher AND your gas receipt.
- Take stamped voucher AND stamped gas receipt to ski resort lift ticket window.
- Purchase one full-price adult lift ticket and receive a second for FREE.
- FREE lift ticket and purchased adult lift ticket must be used same day.
- Both guests must be present at resort lift ticket window at time of redemption.
Estelle West, owner of OutWest Promotions, got the promotion started back in 2003, with a group of Shell Station owners in the Pacific Northwest. She says, “We were looking for ways to gain greater exposure and increased visits in the area, during the winter months.”
The program then started with five resorts and 60 gas stations. “Consumers loved it because it was such a great value. Resorts loved it because they saw an increase in business and also incremental sales at the mountain. The gas stations loved it because they also saw an increase in business but more importantly happy consumers at the pumps. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
The program is now in four states, and working with just over 40 resorts.
Resorts in Colorado are: Copper Mountain, Crested Butte, Loveland, Powderhorn, Monarch, and Winter Park.
Participating California resorts are: Alpine Meadows, Sierra at Tahoe, China Peak, Squaw Valley, Homewood, and Mount Shasta.
Resorts in Oregon are: Anthony Lakes, Hoodoo, Mount Ashland, Mt. Hood Meadows, Mt. Hood Ski Bowl, and Timberline Lodge.
Resorts in Michigan are: Ski Brighton, Swiss Valley, Timber Ridge, Apple Mountain, Cannonsburg, Snow Snake, Big Powderhorn, Black Jack, Marquette Mountain, Mont Ripley, Mt. Zion, Pine Mountain, Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain, Caberfae Peaks, XC Ski HQ, Crystal Mountain, Hanson Hills, The Homestead, Mount Holiday, Nub’s Nob, Shanty Creek, and Treetops Resort.
The SKI FREE® website has some of the fine print, with details such as the fact that Michigan resorts will take vouchers from participating Wisconsin Shell stations. It’s the same with California resorts and Nevada Shell Stations. West hopes to expand the program to as many markets as possible.
Some of the resorts also have specific dates that the deals are good. All of the information is on the website. Another detail is that lift tickets cannot be resold, and if you do, you will be violating the California State Penal Code #537B and that could get you in big trouble.
