Illinois’ Ski Snowstar Winter Sports Park, the only ski area close to the Quad Cities area, has some great deals for everyone from kids to senior citizens this season.
The state’s southernmost downhill area, Snowstar has been hosting skiers and riders since 1981, featuring 14 runs and 270 vertical feet of fun.
Perks for annual pass-holders include this deal: Buy one and ski at a steep discount or for free at 14 other Midwest areas, including Iowa’s Sundown, Seven Oaks and Mt. Crescent, with special deals as well available at Illinois’ Chestnut Mountain.
On Sundays, children at Snowstar ride for just $16 with a full-paying adult. Kids aged six and under are free with adults, while senior skiers aged 60 and above and military with ID get on the slopes on weekends and holidays for only $24, $8 off the normal rate.
Weekdays, ski and ride for just $19 all day, or come after work and pay just $15 for a lift ticket starting at 4 p.m. on weekdays.
Turn in your lift ticket for the day and get a tubing hill ticket for just $11, a $9 savings off the normal $20 full-day tubing ticket.
New this year, Snowstar widened its tubing park—the only one in Illinois that’s also at a ski area—from four to six lanes. It also expanded its tubing parking lot by 20 percent, and replaced 15 percent of its ski and snowboard rental fleet with new Elan and Rossignol gear.
