Ever since Dorie and Nub Sams founded it just outside the northern Michigan town of Harbor Springs in 1957, Nub’s Nob has been one of the Midwest’s best ski and snowboard experiences, driven by a single-minded focus on quality.

The experience is so good that it’s garnered accolade upon accolade in its 55 years. Its former GM, the late Jim Dillworth, who developed the patented Nub’s snow gun, even served as snowmaking consultant to the 1984 Winter Olympics.

This season at Nub’s is no different, with more awards, and great conditions to accompany some great deals like these:

Skiers aged 70 and over ski free every day and those under age 8 ski or ride free with a skiing/riding parent or guardian.

Nub’s works with select area hotels and motels to offer discounted lift ticket vouchers for a $5 daily savings midweek, $2 daily weekends.

Midweek, ski for $52, or $11 per ticket less than the weekend cost, a 17 percent savings.

Those who’ve tried night skiing love it here for several reasons. There are fewer people on the slopes for more access to terrain park features, and you can’t beat the rates. Embracing the dark from 4 to 9 p.m. weekdays and 6-10 p.m. weekends sets you back only $30. Or, if you want to fly at night and day, you’ll pay only $10 more than the day rate

New for this year, Nub’s added a groomer to its fleet and installed six more patented Nub’s snow guns to one slope. Kids can head for the new Panda Land where they learn to ski/ride while moving from statue to statue.
