Creperie du Village is one of Aspen’s newest restaurants but you wouldn’t be able to tell. The eclectic décor is random, yet chic, with a truly bohemian atmosphere. It reminds visitors of Aspen years ago. The menu is strictly European.
“We wanted to bring to Aspen a true taste of the European alpine experience of Cheese fondue, Swiss raclette, and more,” says co-owner Raphael Derly.
Derly grew up in Marseilles, France, skiing and competing around Europe. His business partner is Karin Schwendtner who grew up in Austria. “We both grew up skiing: the Austrian Alps for Karin and the French Alps for me. So we decided to open a place like home. We are both passionate about the mountain lifestyle and we thought that something was missing in Aspen.”
That’s why they opened Aspen’s only alpine restaurant. “We built this typical alpine restaurant from scratch, with our skills, our guts, and our hearts.”
Creperie du Village is in the heart of Aspen at the corner of Hopkins and Mill. Stop in for a casual meal, romantic date, or a late-night snack. You’ll find cozy tables and booths, and a heated patio outside.
There's a delicious variety of European fare. Savory and sweet crepes are a popular choice, from the simple “Pure Love” crepe made of sugar, butter, and lemon, to The French Connection (Boeuf Bourguignon crepe), the Magic Mushroom (roasted seasonal mushrooms, spinach, Herbs de Provence, and a Brandy Cream Sauce), to the Mountain Club (oven-roasted smoked turkey breast, Swiss cheese, fresh tomatoes, bacon, caramelized onions, and spinach, served with aioli). Soups and salads are also on the menu.
A highlight is the traditional Swiss raclette, which is a longstanding Swiss and French tradition. Another treat are the fondue options. You have the choice of: Fondue Bourguinonne, Fondue Au Fromage (the traditional Swiss recipe), and Fondue Au Chocolat.
Prices are reasonable and proportions are generous.
