New Year's Eve is a time for celebration and resolution, but for parents with young children, it's darn near impossible to ever see the ball drop or toast the New Year's arrival. This year Okemo Mountain Resort is changing that. The resort will shift their New Year's countdown ahead to celebrate midnight with the likes of Uruguay and Brazil (at 9 p.m. ET), saving parents a cool three hours in order to recharge their troops for the next day on the slopes.

The evening will be filled with activities designed for the whole family to enjoy, including: skating at the Ice House with free rentals, bingo, trivia, a bounce house, wagon rides, cookie decorating, marshmallow roasting and hot chocolate at the fire pit. Additionally, Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster rides, Snow Tubing and a magic show will be open. The evening will be capped off with a fireworks display at 9 p.m. in the Jackson Gore courtyard. With all that activity leading up to the New Year, those little guys are going to be tuckered out.

One of the evening's main attractions will be the DJ/Dance Party in the Roundhouse, including dinner from 6:30-9 p.m. This party has limited availability. A live DJ will be spinning tunes, complete with balloons and noisemakers as the fireworks begin. Dinner is also served during the party with pizza, salad, brownies and drinks.

New Year’s Eve Activity Wristbands are $32 for access to all activities excluding the Pizza and Dance Party. Activity Wristbands that include the New Year’s Eve Pizza and Dance Party at Jackson Gore’s Roundhouse are $37 for children ages 2 to 6, and $47 for ages 7 and up. Some events and activities will be offered on an a la carte basis.

All of this family-friendly action doesn't mean that couples can't enjoy a romantic New Year's Eve celebration. A quiet dinner in the wine room at Coleman Brook Tavern is the perfect way to unwind in the final hours of 2012.
