Families can enjoy plenty of fun ringing in the New Year at Ski Granby Ranch. The base area has parties, parades, dancing, and drinks.
“Alcohol will be served, but it is also a family-friendly part at the base area,” says Marketing Manager Lisa Craig. It is free to get in, but there will be a cash bar along with a Pizza & Pasta Bar for $15 for adults and $8 for kids. Craig adds you can also make a reservation at the Granby Ranch Grill restaurant. The bluegrass band “Hunker Down” plays from 8:30-12:30 at the base that night as well.
The real fun for the kids is the family Glowstick Walking Parade. It starts around 5:30 p.m. up the Zig Trail. Pick up your glowsticks at 5 p.m. The torchlight parade is after that, courtesy of the Ski & Ride School instructors. They’ll parade down Easy Money run. Fireworks will follow.
It’s a different kind of celebration down the road at Winter Park. Ride the gondola up the mountain to a dinner at 10,700 feet above sea level. The Lodge at Sunspot offers fine dining on New Year’s Eve. Enjoy authentic Colorado cuisine paired with an extensive wine list. A five-course meal is offered or enjoy the Sunspot’s Alpine Buffet. Prices in the dining room are $79.95 for adults and $49.95 for kids 10 and under. The Buffet menu is $59.95 for adults and $29.95 for children 10 and under. The price includes the gondola ride, buffet, non-alcoholic beverages, and dessert. Sales tax and gratuity will be added. Alcohol and specialty beverages are extra.
Dinners at The Lodge at Sunspot typically sell out so make your reservations soon. Call 970-726-1446. One thing to note, though, there is no midnight celebration at the restaurant.
