The new season has started at Ski Granby Ranch (former SolVista Basin). “Everybody is excited,” according to Marketing Manager Lisa Craig. “Customers and staff are excited. We have been so excited just to get rolling for the season. We’re going to have a fun, fun time this season.”
The resort opened on 12/12/12 with almost 12 inches of new snow. Another celebration was a young boy who wanted to have his 12th birthday party at Ski Granby Ranch. Jack Painter brought his family along from Broomfield, Colo. “We donated some lift tickets to the family as part of a celebratory thing, as part of a once-in-a-lifetime date,” said Craig.
New terrain has been added to the area, just outside of Winter Park. Four new black/expert trails have been added on West Mountain. “These trails basically cut through some of the glades from last year.” Craig added that West Mountain isn’t open yet but it’s going to be a blast. “Our CEO, Kyle Harris, is ecstatic and can’t wait to get up there on the new terrain.”
She says it is something that people have asked for. “They want a little bit more expert terrain. This will add to it.”
Ski Granby Ranch is still a family-friendly resort. Craig says it is the most family friendly in Colorado, partly because all of the trails lead down to one base area. “People can’t get lost. If you have kids who are 7 or 8 years old and are fine by themselves a bit, they can go off and explore with their friends and Mom and Dad can watch them come down, and it’s not a worry.”
Ski Granby Ranch offers night skiing and tubing from 5-8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday night, Jan. 4 through March 29, as well as every night Dec. 26-30, during “Winter Wonderland Week.” Santa Claus will also be taking some turns Dec. 22-24.
