The snow has returned to Utah after a brief hiatus, and many skiers and riders have envoke the spirit of Ullr, the Norse god of skiing. Through snow dances and bonfires, a storm dropped 18 inches of light, dry Utah powder at Snowbird Resort in the last few days.

To celebrate the triumph of Ullr, Snowbird is offering discounted lodging rates that are affordable for both families and ski bums who are after a taste of Utah pow. As part of the Snow Sale, book any room at one of Snowbird’s four on-mountain properties and lock in slopeside lodging starting at $99 per room. In addition, kids under 12 ski or ride free at the Bird for every night of the reservation.

With the new Little Cloud chairlift, Gad 2 and Mineral Basin expected to open by this weekend, Snowbird will have nine of its 11 lifts operating, including the Tram, and approximately 85 percent of its terrain open for powder turns.

But like a deep powder day on a holiday weekend, the Snow Sale won’t last long. Visitors must book by Dec. 14 at midnight for travel valid at any time during the 2012-2013 season.
