More big-name French and Austrian ski resorts opened for the 2012/13 ski season over the weekend and snow conditions couldn't have been better.

Meribel opened Friday with 100-200cm (lower/upper slopes). 

Courchevel opened Saturday with 101-159cm.

Serre Chevalier opened two chairlifts on Saturday, but the official opening of its winter ski area is this weekend, Dec. 15. Current snow conditions are looking great with 40-160cm.

Chamonix partially opened with Les Houches ski area up and running from Saturday. Snow conditions are 75-110cm.

The Austrian ski resorts of St. Anton am Arlberg (70-125cm), Mayrhofen (15-60cm) and Saalbach-Hinterglemm (30-80cm) also opened over the weekend.
