Opening day at Deer Valley Resort this weekend, Dec. 8-9, also marks the return of the 21st annual Celebrity SkiFest, which brings out dozens of Hollywood A-listers and Olympic athletes to Deer Valley’s slopes for two days of entertainment and philanthropy.

On Dec. 8, Deer Valley will kick off its opening day at 9 a.m. sharp, but the real action will get started at noon on the Birdseye run, located mid-mountain at Silver Lake. The Celebrity SkiFest is a team-driven ski race that pits movie stars and athletes against each other in a friendly competition to benefit the Waterkeeper Alliance, a non-profit that defends the right to clean water across six continents, and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team.

Celebrities like Larry David, Kevin Nealon and Rosie Perez have RSVP’d for this year’s SkiFest, and plenty more big names, including some famous Park City locals, are sure to attend. The SkiFest will continue on Saturday night with a gala event and private concert featuring Academy and Grammy award winner Melissa Etheridge. The SkiFest will continue through Sunday with an additional race at noon.

Packages are available for star-struck fans who wish to attend the gala and receive VIP SkiFest access, starting at $1,250 per person. One hundred percent of the gala proceeds will benefit the Waterkeeper Alliance, but for those who just want to watch, the SkiFest race is free for the public.

The event is slated to be televised on CBS on Sunday, Dec. 9.
