Wisconsin’s Trollhaugen Ski Area, 50 minutes northwest of Minnesota’s Twin Cities, near the St. Croix River and the Badger town of St. Croix Falls, is offering some great Monday through Friday specials throughout the season that’ll have you packing your gear and heading here often.
Weekly specials at this area, featuring a 260-foot vertical, two quads and one double chair among its 10 lifts, include a Thursday night lure of two lift tickets and two sets of rental gear for just $15 each per person.
The catch: you have to be a twosome to partake, but even so, the total hit is just $30. For one person, the normal “toll at the ‘Troll’” is $56, so that twosome deal represents a 73 percent savings per. Not too shabby.
Come Friday nights after work or school and pay the same freight – $15 for a lift ticket – from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. Trollhaugen also has loads of online-only special coupons. Just print them out to save big. 'Like' its Facebook page for a chance at a weekly free ticket drawings, too.
This season, Trollhaugen is one of only a handful of Midwest ski areas to be named a Burton Learn-to-Ride Center. That affiliation is accompanied by all-new Burton snowboards and boots in its rental center.
Also new is a new beginner progression terrain park called Valgrind — a reference to the gates of Valhalla, which aptly enough, is the name of the area’s more advanced terrain park. It also added a gladed advanced run this season.
And, you can add to the fun by riding its 1,000-foot-long, side-by-side ziplines, which are open all year.
