It's been almost a perfect - no pun intended - winter at Perfect North Slopes, located in southeastern Indiana just a stone's throw away from Cincinnati. Good natural snowfall supplemented by lots of snowmaking has kept the slopes and trails in top condition all season long.

The skiing and riding has been great, and now Perfect North is getting ready to celebrate the coming of spring with its annual Spring Carnival Sunday, March 1, preceded by a couple of high school late night specials.

The Spring Carnival will include lots of family events at the ski area and tubing hill. A variety of activities will be taking place, including the famed cardboard box races, the always popular slush pit run - Speedos are optional - and the downhill dummy exhibition - that's the guy wearing Speedos. Check ahead to make sure weather conditions aren't a factor.

Friday and Saturday night, Feb. 27-28, is the late night high school special. The lights will be staying on until 1 a.m. both nights, and all you need is a valid high school ID to ski or ride from 9 p.m. until the wee hours of the morning for just $20. You can get a lift ticket and ski or snowboard rental equipment for $35. Snow tubing tickets for the same time period both nights will be $25.

Speaking of snow tubing, Perfectly Pink Tubing, a benefit for breast cancer research, takes place Feb. 22-26 from 4:30-9:30 p.m. each day. $1 will be donated to Tour for the Cure for each tubing lift ticket purchased during that time. Lift tickets are $20.

Get out and enjoy one of the best seasons in recent years before it comes to an end.
