Fifty years ago, Crystal Mountain Resort was the newcomer on the block. Now, resort is the largest ski area in Washington State. This month, the resort isn’t waiting until the lifts turn to start their celebration. They’ve already launched 50 days of giveaways to honor their 50th anniversary.

The 50 days of giveaways features $10,000 worth of prizes that are given out each day until Dec. 20, 2012. The prizes consist of skis and snowboards as well as jackets, goggles, helmets, and packs.

How often can you enter? Every day, via Crystal Mountain’s Facebook page. The resort announces a winner each day with a different prize.

Crystal Mountain started with the sale of stock to about 200 investors when development plans inside Mt. Rainier National Park at Paradise failed. Within three years of opening, the resort rose in fame by hosting the National Alpine Championships. It became the first ski area in Washington State to install a high-speed quad with the Rainier Express in 1988.

In 1997, Boyne USA bought the resort, adding a new mid-mountain lodge and new lifts including several more high-speed quads. The company installed Washington’s only gondola in 2010. The Mt. Rainier Gondola helped expand Summit House dining opportunities and year-round sightseeing.
