Three skiers and a snowboarder get in the chairlift in Steamboat, Colorado

Winter Park and Steamboat, two of Colorado’s most popular ski areas, sit little more than a beautiful two hour drive apart along Highway 40. The resorts have combined forces to offer the 4x40 Pass that nets you two days at Steamboat and two days at Winter Park/Mary Jane this winter.

The cost of the pass has even gone down since last season, to just $199. The best part about this deal is that there are no blackout dates so you can use it over the ever-popular Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Purchases can be made online while supplies last, and must be made at least 48 hours in advance of your visit to either ski resort.

Snowmaking has started at both resorts, as they get ready for the season. Winter Park Resort has replaced two of its snow cats and Steamboat Resort has added a new Bison groomer to its fleet, which will expand and upgrade its snowmaking capabilities. Some new energy-efficient snowmobiles have also been added to the fleet for the winter.

Opening day at Winter Park is scheduled for Nov. 14; Steamboat’s official opening day is Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22.
