That luxury Banff ski vacation can be easier and less costly than you think. Just get yourself to Banff, Alberta, and cash in on pacakages that will save you money. Packages pair up the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel with skiing or snowboarding at Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, and Mt. Norquay.

Nicknamed the Castle in the Rockies, the Banff Springs hotel is almost a miniature city. It contains 768 guest rooms, 12 restaurants and lounges, 17 shops, a hot springs spa, and a fitness facility. For families, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools and a recreation center that features four lanes of Canadian five-pin bowling offer a welcome distraction. The hotel is also one of the Banff historic icons, opening in 1888.

Accommodations at the Banff Springs hotel come in a combined package that includes tri-area lift tickets. That means you can ski all three resorts: Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, or Mt. Norquay. A shuttle service whisks you from the front door to the ski hills, and your gear is tucked away each night in the ski and snowboard storage room.

The Banff Springs offers several ski packages, including one for families. The family package, designed for a minimum of three nights, includes lift tickets for two adults and two kids per Deluxe Fairmont room per night. An added advantage for families, kids under five years old can eat free. Rates for the family package start at $489 per night, based on double occupancy. This package is not available from Dec. 21, 2012 to Jan. 5, 2013.

Another ski package is geared toward couples. It includes two ski lift tickets per room per night, a daily breakfast, a heritage tour of the Castle, and daily access passes for the Willow Stream Spa. This package starts at $499 per night, based on double occupancy in a Fairmont room.

For the same price, the ski and spa package is similar. It includes lift tickets, two nights of accommodations in a Fairmont room, and two $50 spa credits to use on treatments.

For those who don’t want all the extras tossed in, the Ultimate Fairmont Banff Springs Ski Package includes Fairmont room accommodations and lift tickets. Rates start at $329 per night.

All packages are available from Nov. 10, 2012 until April 30, 2013. Mt. Norquay opened Oct. 25, while Sunshine Village and Lake Louise are both scheduled to open on Nov.9. The nearest airport sits in Calgary, where you can catch a shuttle to Banff.
