Arapahoe Basin will be the first ski area in Colorado to open for the 2012/2013 season. The season will begin Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 when A-Basin's Black Mountain Express lift spins at 9:00 a.m. MST. Skiers and riders will have access to High Noon, one of the area's intermediate, mid-mountain trails.
“We’re extremely excited to be the first ski area to open in Colorado,” said Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin COO. “The staff and I can’t wait to see skiers and riders out on the hill having fun. That’s what we live for.”
"The Legend," as A-Basin fans refer to it, has two new additions to the area for the 2012/2013 season. The Pika Place Learning Area, located next to the Black Mountain Express and scheduled to open in November, is catered toward younger skiers and those who are making their first attempts at skiing or riding. Pika Place consists of a new trail, new conveyor lift and Ace's Kids Park, an entry-level terrain park for beginners looking for freestyle terrain skills.
In addition to Pika Place, there is a new on-site Rossignol Experience Center where guests can rent a wide variety of Rossignol skis, all with auto-turn rocker technology, that can help skiers and riders elevate their techniques on the mountain.
To receive the lowest guaranteed price on lift tickets, guests should purchase in advance at ArapahoeBasin.com. Early-season lift ticket pricing will run through Dec. 21, 2012, with adult (19+) tickets priced at $64, youth (15-18) tickets at $54, child (6-14) tickets at $32 and children under 5 skiing free.
After sweating out a sizzling summer, Colorado is relieved to kick off ski season Oct. 17 at A-Basin.
