Want to ski Whistler Blackcomb this winter, but nervous about steep airfare rates? Worry no more. Whistler Blackcomb Central Reservations is running an airline seat sale for skiers and snowboarders booking winter vacations. The sale is on for a short duration, until the middle of October.

Here’s the deal: Airline seats are on sale through Oct. 15, 2012. The discounted seat sale is only valid for those booking vacations through Whistler Blackcomb Central Reservations.

From Canadian cities, you can get discounted rates to fly into Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Discounted travel originating in select Canadian cities is valid for this winter’s 2012-13 season until Feb. 15, 2013.

Return trip rates vary by city of origin, but here’s a sample. From Toronto (YYZ), you can fly return for $479, including taxes and fees. Flying from Ottawa (YOW) or Montreal (YUL) costs only $20 more. Travel from Calgary (YYC) return costs $299, including taxes and fees or Edmonton (YEG) for $309 total.

Skiers and riders from the U.S. can also get discounted rates to fly in to Vancouver. From Los Angeles (LAX), you can get round trip seats for $389, including taxes and fees. In order to get that rate, you need to fly only on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, and flights must be booked in tandem with lodging. The seat sale is available for travel Dec. 1, 2012 through May 31, 2013.

Discounted rates are available from other U.S. cities, too. Those departure cities include New York Newark (EWR), Honolulu (HNL), San Francisco (SFO), Miami (MIA), Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Minneapolis (MSP), and Portland, OR (PDX). Each of the seat sales have different requirements, but all must be packaged with lodging.  

When you fly into Vancouver, you can rent a car or catch a shuttle to reach Whistler Village. It is located two hours from the airport.
