The big end of winter event is the resort's infamous Défi-Foly competition which attracts thousands of fans as determined (and slightly mad) competitors attempt to race down a 150m long snow slope on the shore of the Confins lake on anything that slides but doesn't float. The objective is to cross the lake, or at least break the distance record before sinking.

The event has been staged for more than 20 years now and is frequently televised. The sportier participants use skis, monoskis and snowboards, whilst others come up with all manner of wild and wacky crafts. This year's Défi-Foly is on April 29th.
