In most cases the money is going on snowmaking, but the little village of Abries in the Queyras area is opening a new three-kilometre (two mile) long six seater detachable chairlift. The lift ascends from the areas 1550m base up in to the hart of the 35km (22 mile) ski area which continues up 900 vertical metres to 2450m.

The resort is part of the Tout Queyras ticket which includes seven ski areas served by eight villages, together offering 130km (80 miles) of piste served by 43 lifts, most of the rest drag lifts.

The season is due to begin on 22nd December and run to 30th March 2008 with a six day ticket costing only 107 Euros.
