There's added excitement this winter as the races will be the first to be staged in the first "face to face" configuration of downhill race courses that will be a trademark of the 2009 Alpine World Championships at the resort. Both main race courses will end close to one another in the resort centre, making all facilities a short walk from one another, meaning both maximum convenience and minimal need to use motor transport , a key concept of the "green Championships."

On December 15th and 16th, for the very first time, a Women's World Cup event will be run on the brand new "Rhone Alpes" slope. On the menu: a downhill and a super G. Then on February 2nd and 3rd, the men will be in the start gate of the Olympic « Face » on Bellevarde for a downhill and a super combined event.
