Indeed, "Wherever snow falls, snowboard will be celebrated all over the world!" said a statement from organizers EuroSIMA and the WSF (World Snowboard Federation).
The goal of World Snowboard Day is to promote snowboarding and culture, and launch the winter sports season with a strong event open to all.

The great and the good from the snowboard world will share their passion with the general public. Snow resorts, federations, clubs, shops, pro riders, associations and boardsports brands will get together to promote snowboarding.

Concerts, BBQ, demos, contests, parties, free lessons, free testing of the latest snowboard ranges, discounts on lift tickets and more are on offer at snow resorts, clubs and shops around the world. All activities will take place with a good sound selection and bars and night clubs have planned special parties to celebrate.
Countries involved in the event so far include Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Norway, the UK, Japan, China, Korea, Russia, Canada and the US

Organiser EuroSIMA was initially created by several European leading brands such as Rip Curl, Billabong, Quiksilver, Rusty, Gotcha and Hoff but the association is now composed of 95 company members and affiliates of which there are 65 brands and 30 service providers.
The organization reports that there are now 13 million borders worldwide, predominantly in the US, but with six million in Europe, lead by Switzerland and then France in terms of equipment sales.
