The list of the world class athletes selected for this exclusive event is remarkable: among them, 16 world-famous alpine champions and 4 snowboarders who, after their fight during the entire season in World Cup, meet their fans in Verbier.
The exciting and fun event consists of five competitions, open to skiers as well as to snowboarders. The five disciplines are very different from each others : giant slalom, boarder and ski cross, speed running, trilling triathlon, parallel slalom and gigantic After-Ski Party stand on the programme of that long day. A unique occasion to share exceptional moments with top stars from the past years and the last season, away from the stress of "normal" competitions.
Aksel Lund Svindal, who seriously injured himself at the season start after a terrible crash at Beaver Creek, will race for the first time since his victory at Lake Louise, Canada, in November 2007. It will be an interesting test for the Norwegian as he will face some of the heroes of the past winter as Switzerland's Daniel Albrecht two-time
downhill World Cup champion Didier Cuche or World Cup veteran Marco Buechel. The 2007 Overall World Cup champion has been training hard for this and he is looking forward for his return on a true race course.
USA's Lindsey Vonn, the first US woman the capture the Overall Cup since the triumph of Tamara McKinney in 1983 is also coming to Verbier a week after winning the slalom at the recent US Nationals in Sugarloaf, Maine.
With all these ingredients Carlsberg has been successful in creating an original and unique event. The enthusiasm of professionals for this manifestation confirms the originality of the Verbier High Five by
Carlsberg which continues to grow throughout the years. The night before, a charity dinner will be held in Verbier, with the participation of many stars like international movie-star Marthe Keller, scientist-adventurer Bertrand Piccard, skating champion Stéphane Lambiel, and skipper Steve Ravussin to name a few of them. The
benefit of this evening goes to the Organization "Right to play".
