The summer ski area on the Grand Motte glacier is open every day from 21st June to 31st August 2008, from 7.15am to 1pm. There are 20km of piste between 3,000m and 3,656m altitude is available with 750m of vertical - as big as the biggest lift served vertical in the southern hemisphere. There are 12 ski lifts and a snow park with a new boarder cross course due to open this summer and a mini slalom.
The ski area can be reached in just 7 minutes via the Perce Neige funicular which has been transporting people from the heart of Tignes at 2,100m to the foot of the glacier since 1993.
Adult ski passes cost, payable from age 13, from 31 Euros per day and 150 Euros per week. A child's ski pass (age five to 12) will cost from 25 Euros per day to 120 Euros per week.
