As a result the Nordic resorts and one alpine resort opened for Monday although by Tuesday some had to close again due to the rising temperatures.

In Belgium the country's south-east has 10 alpine resorts but the cross-country trails attract the most visitors. The most beautiful trails are found in the Hautes Fagnes nature reserve.
The biggest skiresort is Baraque de Fraiture which has excellent slopes for beginners and families. There are also opportunities for night-skiing, sledging, snowboarding and snow scooters, but check snow coverage before you visit.
All the stations are popular when enough snow has fallen. The après-ski in the Belgian Ardennes has a quality all of its own with the culinary specialities including many special beer varieties.
