The completely new six-chair express lift will be the biggest in the country with a length of just over two kilometres (2,043m) ascending over a vertical of 470m. With chairs travelling at six metres per second it will also be Scandinavia's fastest.
A brand new ski area, also due to open on 26 December 2010, will offer more than two kilometres of descents with "challenging" upper sections turning into blue/red slopes on the way down as well as green/blue slopes suitable for the whole family.
In addition Björnrike will get a second new lift, a 500-metre long T-bar lift, to enhance the resort's beginner and low-zone skiing and family-friendly approach.
This season, Björnrike has also made significant ecological advances with a new eco-friendly snowmaking system. Unique to Sweden, the powerful new system will draw water from a reservoir at the top of the ski area to energy efficient and noise-reducing snow cannons, which will have the ability to cover the entire Björnrike ski area with snow in less than 100 hours.
