Bardonecchia in the north west of the country has issued the country's first powder alarm for many weeks with a 20cm fall in the past 24 hours. Courmayeur has had 5cm of new snow.
There's been snow in the southern French alps too with many resorts reporting 10-12cm of new snow in the past 24 hours including Les Orres, Serre Chevalier and La Norma.
Elsewhere there's hope that change is finally in the air after nearly two months of little or no fresh snowfall.
"Sorry, no major dumps of snow yet ... although there has been a lot of snow dancing in the streets recently! Light snowfall is forecast for tonight!" said Claire Burnet of Chamonix Tourist Office.
"To reassure those who think we're picking primroses and making dandelion salads in Chamonix, this is not the case. All our lifts are operating (with the exception of the Chosalets nursery slopes and the Retour Pendant) and 95% of slopes are open. The cross-country slopes are all open too. The piste services do an excellent job when we're all tucked up in bed and take it first hand from me (hand on heart) the skiing is still good, as long as you're not expecting to find fresh powder!"
