Chamonix, La Plagne and Montgenevre are among those opening.
In the Chamonix Valley the Grands Montets and les Houches ski areas have opened this weekend!
"The snow finally arrived with a vengeance and between Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th December, the snow fell thick and fast. There's been a metre of snowfall at 1,400m and 150cm (five feet!) at the Grands Montets." said a resort spokesperson.
As a result there's partial opening of the Grands Montets ski area from Saturday 10th December onwards, to include Lognan cable car, Bochard gondola and chair lifts (1600m vertical drop). A day pass costs 32€
There's also partial opening of Les Houches for the weekend only, day pass 22€. All other ski areas opening next weekend, 17th December.
Meanwhile at La Plagne (part of Paradiski) the resort is also expecting to have a very white Christmas this year with over 90cm of snow in the last couple of days. The resort has opened its high altitude villages today Saturday (10th Dec) with the full resort opening on Saturday 17th December as planned.
There's a metre of snow lying at the top of the slopes (3250m). 80cm at 2700m and 50cm at 2000m. The biggest single fall last week was 40cm on Wednesday 7th December.
Val d'Isère's Office du Tourisme has reported up to a metre of fresh snow across the Espace Killy and Montgenevre say they're opening with a 45cm compacted base after new snowfall was groomed on their pistes.
