Blackcomb Mountain's operations have been extended to May 28, 2012, meaning there's still two months of the season left to allow skiers and riders to take advantage of what Whistler says are incredible conditions on the mountain.

"We are in the midst of another fantastic winter season here in Whistler so spring will have to wait just a little bit longer," says Doug MacFarlane, Whistler Blackcomb mountain operations manager.

"We've received over 342 cm (135 inches) of snowfall so far in March alone, making for some of the best spring conditions we've ever had. Extending the ski season on Blackcomb and giving the people what they want was an easy decision."

Current cumulative snowfall this season: 1184cm (456 in.); 143cm (56 in.) above Whistler Blackcomb's annual snowfall average and there's been more than 342cm (135 in.) of snowfall so far in March making this the snowiest March on record.

Further East in British Columbia, resorts are offering fun events as well as deep snow for the last weekends of the season.

"A key ingredient for a great ski vacation, snow, is over the top at Fernie Alpine Resort and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. As we move into Spring Ski season we have had snow of Epic Proportions at both resorts," says, Matt Mosteller.
"Not only have we broken the single storm record at Fernie Alpine Resort with a huge snowfall of five feet in less than 40 hours but we are nearing the record for total snowfall as we are now at 34 feet. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has set a record for snowpack with close to 8 feet. I skied with media from around the world over the weekend and they had skied at many resorts in Canada and the US recently and they all said that the best Ski Conditions in North America are right here at Fernie Alpine Resort and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort," added Mosteller.

Events coming up include Miss Fernival and the new Coca-Cola Slope Soaker in Fernie (www.skifernie.com) April 14 and 15 and there's an entire long weekend of fun for the season end at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (www.skikickinghorse.com) including the Sun Splash Funk Festival on April 6-8
