Innsbruck To Host Easter Festival Tyrol Starting March 27

The 21st Easter Festival Tyrol is taking place in Innsbruck this year between March 27 and April 12, with its ever popular Easter Market and Palm Sunday Processions.

Families heading to the Austrian Tyrol for the Easter holidays will find plenty of festivities on offer in Innsbruck city centre. The Easter Market will take place in Innsbruck's historical old town, directly beneath the Golden Roof and surrounded by medieval houses. This annual market will be held between March 3 and April 13.

Numerous events for all ages will take place between Palm Sunday and Easter Monday, including the Palm Sunday Processions, masses, and other religious events. The Palm Sunday Procession April 5 will go from the schoolyard to the church. The procession and the consecration of palm bouquets are part of the clerical costumes on this day. Palm bouquets are decorated with ribbons and pretzels and fixed to a stick or pole.

Innsbruck is two-time host of the Winter Olympic Games. The capital city of the Austrian Tyrol is surrounded by some of the best skiing in Austria. The ski regions of the Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck offer access to 285 kilometres of pistes for all levels of skier and snowboarder. Within easy reach of the city are the ski resorts of Igls, Mutters, Patscherkogel, Hafelekar, Axamer Lizum, and Seefeld.
