Sixty athletes representing ten countries will face off in the Völkl New Zealand Free Ski Open. This test of technical ability features drops up to 60 feet, showcasing the nerve and talent of the intrepid competitors. The event's finals will take place in the Harris Mountains, making this the Southern Hemisphere's only helicopter-accessed competition. In other Southern Hemi news... Argentina's resorts have packed down hard, though a little new snow is expected. Spring conditions prevail in Australia. Skiing and riding there is good with mild temps. Chile should be getting new snow soon. Conditions there are mild and cloudy, making for good riding on stable slopes. In New Zealand, Mt. Olympus is planning to finally open.
