Mt. Washington Adds Glades, More Park Features

Mount Washington added new glades and more terrain park features. Mount Washington added new glades and more terrain park features.

Glading efforts over the summer at Mount Washington paid off with the inauguration of the popular Good Time Glades, and more features expanded the resort's terrain park for this winter.

The Good Time Glades on the west side of the mountain adjacent to Hawk Sixpak was designed with beginner and lower intermediate skiers and boarders in mind. "We wanted those at that skill level to experience that rush of going through the trees at their own speed," public relations director Brent Curtain told OnTheSnow.com.

"It's a gentle slope with tons of space between the trees," he added. "It's even wide enough so we can groom occasionally through the trees."

The groomed glades are unique, not only because they are groomed, but for their old growth forest. Skiers and riders zip through ancient mountain hemlocks and yellow cedars.

The resort also has invested close to $100,000 over the past four years in its terrain park, increasing its supply of fun boxes and rails again this winter. "We're progressing the parks each season," said Curtain. "We also get a lot of snow each season, so we've been able to push up impressive jumps as well."
