Austria's Silbertal region is offering free ski holidays for children aged up to 12 when they are accompanied by paying parents, during the last five weeks of the winter.
The offer, valid from from 21st March to 26th April, applies to children born in 1997 or later.
The offer is valid when at least one parent books a stay and purchases a Montafon regional ski pass for five days or more over the same period. Accommodation in the parent's room and a lift ticket for the child are provided free of charge, although meals may be charged by the accommodation provider.
Families who take up this offer will be given a voucher (coupon) by accommodation providers taking part in the promotion, which can be exchanged for a free ski pass at the Lift Company's ticket offices.
Silbertal is located five kilometres from Schruns, the main resort in Montafon. The Silbertal stretches for 22km and contains two winter sports areas.
The Kapell cable car brings skiers up to the Hochjoch ski area. Since the winter of 2005 they can easily get back to the departure point of the Kapell feeder cable car using the Hochjoch-Silbertal valley ski run.
The Kristberg i s predestined to be a family ski area (7.5 km), with its easy to intermediate descents. Particularly popular are the ski tours and deep-snow descents in the Silbertal.
The Kristberg is also an eldorado for cross-country skiers - the panoramic cross-country ski runs of over 11 km is freshly trailmarked every day.In the centre of Silbertal is the 4 km long floodlit village cross-country ski run.
Non-skiers have a wide range of options including 60 km of well marked snowshoe routes (snowshoe hire and guided snowshoe hikes on-the-spot), 30 km of cleared winter hiking trails, and a natural ice rink.
Anyone interested in mining can visit the lovingly arranged Museum of Mining in the Silbertal. Particularly recommended is a guided visit to the St. Agatha Miners' Chapel, the oldest place of worship in Montafon.
There also are the guided tours in the Waldschule Silbertal forest school. Off you go with your snowshoes through the Silbertal mountain forest - experts explain everything worth knowing about it. Their motto is to experience the forest with "all the senses."
