Busy day in store for the Northeast and the Midwest with snow, very cool temps and high winds, while warm and dry is the flavor of the day in the West. RC
Cool temps and snow showers make their way into the region today, bringing anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of powder from New York state to Maine. As the day progresses, winds pick up which could make the back end of this system nasty with blowing snow. If you're planning late afternoon or evening travel, it may be best to leave early in the day or wait until tomorrow. Highs from the mid 20's in the north to the mid 40's further south.
More fun with yet another Alberta Clipper entering the region today, bringing along more of the "nasty". High winds and snow slam the plain states today and move quickly into the upper midwest by late afternoon/early evening. This system does pack the potential for blizzard like conditions, so please call ahead for resort and road conditions before heading out. High temps from the single digits in the northern portions of the region to the mid 30's further south.
All the action in the west seems like a distant memory as clear skies and record temps are in store for the region today, with the exception of very light snow for extreme eastern Montana, northern Wyoming and northern Colorado. This trend is set to continue through the week. Look for highs today from the mid 30's in the northern Rockies to the mid 70's in California.
