The slopes of Big White outside Kelowna, B.C., light up for skiing and riding on Friday nights. They've become the place to be-mostly because you can buy lift tickets for $5. (Do the math quickly: A family of four can ski for $20.)

The resort launched their $5 Friday night skiing this winter at the beginning of January. The first Friday in the month turned out a record number of locals for skiing and riding under the lights.

"It was a great success," commented Blair Ireland, Director or Guest Services and Events. "We couldn't have asked for a better evening. The conditions were great, and everyone was out having a great time."

Big White has run its $5 Fridays for a number of years. Lift tickets are only $5 for all ages, and rentals cost $10. The Plaza Chair, Bullet Express, and TELUS Park Chair run from 5 to 8 p.m. The terrain park also is lit at night.

"We want everyone to have the opportunity to go skiing or snowboarding and enjoy time with their family and friends," added Michael J. Ballingal, Senior Vice President. "We're all about supporting the community at Big White, so $5 Friday is just another great way for families and friends to spend quality time together in the outdoors at an unbeatable price."
