Seniors 65 and up pay $15 for tickets at Elk Mountain Jan. 20 and 27, Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24, and March 3, 10 and 17.

College students pay $15 on Wednesdays - day or night - Jan. 21 and 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25, and March 4, 11 and 19. They will, of course, need some form of college ID.

Elk welcomes ladies 21 and over to spend Feb. 8 or March 7 skiing or riding with women instructors from the Elk Mountain Ski School.

The program is designed to improve skills at all levels. Have you mastered the bunny slope but need a hand with intermediate terrain? Are you a terminal intermediate who needs help to get to the next level? Do you ski everything but not without some apprehension?

The area's certified instructors can show you some pretty simple ways to improve your techniques and greatly expand your comfort zone, from wherever you are now.

The day begins with registration at 8 a.m. in the Winter Garden Restaurant. Particpants meet by the flagpole near the Children's Village for skiing and instruction from 9 a.m. to noon. Then it's light lunch in the Winter Garden Restaurant from noon to 1 p.m. then more skiing, practice and personal critique from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Social hour from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Cost is $70 for instruction only for season pass holders; $85 for instruction and lift ticket; and $95 instruction with rentals and lift ticket.
