The East Coast Winter Games are coming up Jan. 21-23 at Hunter Mountain, with three races on successive days.

Downhill is Jan. 21, with helmet required. GS is Jan. 22. Slalom is Jan. 23.

The event is sponsored by the New York Police Department Ski Club.

Proceeds are donated to Survivor of the Shield, a group founded by three police widows. It is devoted to assisting the families of NYPD officers who lost their lives in the performance of their duty, with emotional, economic and social assistance.

The games are open to all active law enforcement officers and retired officers who are fully vested and in good standing. Guests are welcome and may participate in all games and social events.

Competitors will race in age and gender groups in three divisions: competitive, recreational, and open.

Start position is determined by when applications are received.

The top three racers in each age category will receive awards.

Hunter has 55 trails on 240 acres, a vertical drop of 1,600 feet, and 11 lifts including three quads, two triples, five doubles, and a handle tow.
