The Ice Climbing World Cup will take place again this year in the glacier village of Saas-Fee at 1800 meters altitude Jan. 22 to 25, 2009.
Saas-Fee will attract more than 2000 spectators to its underground car park ‘Im Parkhaus' where a 40-metre-high ice wall will be prepared. Spectators will be able to watch the best ice-climbers in the world at various levels from the spiral ramp of the car park.
This year's event is particularly special as 2009 marks the 10th anniversary of ice climbing competitions in Saas-Fee. Celebratory parties will take place Friday and Saturday in the arena until the early hours. As well as the Ice Climbing World Cup, Saas-Fee also will host the Ice Climbing World Championships.
