Granite Peak, overlooking Wausau and the Wisconsin River valley in the north-central portion of the Badger State, is offering lots of midweek daily specials to attract skiers and riders. With a huge, for the Midwest, 700-foot vertical drop, and over 70 runs, the Peak is one of the Heartlands top ski and ride areas. Approaching the Wausau area on I-39, Rib Mountain, which houses Granite Peak, can be seen from miles away. It looms over the city like a miniature version of the Wasatch Range rising above Salt Lake City.

The following daily lift specials are good through the remainder of the season except for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents' Day.

Monday and Wednesday a daytime lift ticket, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., is only $15, and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights you get one free ski equipment rental with the purchase of each nightly lift ticket. The free rental does not include premium and demo skis or snowboards.

Tuesday and Thursday, senior citizens 65 and older, can buy two daily lift tickets, good from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., for the price of one, and all other skiers and riders, regardless of age, can purchase three lift tickets for the price of two.

Thursday night, 4-9 p.m., everybody is eligible to purchase two lift tickets for the price of one, and Saturday night, 4-9 p.m. all lift tickets are just $15. With prices like that there's not an excuse to get out and enjoy one of the best winters in recent years. Remember, cabin fever is a preventable disease.
