Deer Valley Resort offers a selection of specialty ski programs designed to improve skiers' skills and confidence while gathering together future ski buddies.
Mahre Training Center Ski Camps are hosted by American Olympic medal winners and twin brothers, Phil and Steve Mahre. Participants will receive six hours of daily instruction, the chance to ski with Phil and Steve Mahre during the camp, daily lift tickets, evening sessions, the unique Mahre Training Center progression, video, and other amenities Feb. 6 - 8. For ages 12 years and older, all abilities. $685 (including lift tickets) for the three-day camp and $1,040 (including lift tickets) for the five-day camp.
The Men on Thursdays program (all abilities) is $630 per person, excluding lift tickets, and runs five consecutive Thursdays starting January 15. The Women on Wednesdays program (all abilities) is $630 per person, excluding lift tickets, and runs five consecutive Wednesdays beginning Jan. 14.
The eight-session Pre-school Programs (from 3 to 5 years old) are offered Mondays/Wednesdays through Feb. 4 or Tuesdays/Thursdays through Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $426 for lesson only and $522 with a lift ticket. The popular Friday Afternoon Program is for children ages 3 to 14 and runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on six Fridays from Jan. 9 to Feb. 27, 2009, from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $323 for lesson only $395 with a lift ticket.
The kids' full day Saturday or Sunday Ski Experience from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is for children ages 3 to 14 years. They begin Jan. 10 and cost $514 for lesson only and $628 with a lift ticket.

Powder Mountain's SheSkis Women's Clinic is for women taught by women. Women ages 18 and older of all abilities from beginners to experts are invited. You'll make lasting friendships while skiing or boarding with those of similar ability. The once-a-week schedule with the same instructor will produce remarkable results and future ski friends. There are three, three-day Tuesday sessions I beginning Jan. 6. Each 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.session costs $250 and includes a four-hour lesson, lunch, and a year-end party. Call 745-3772 Ext 127 or 128.
Alta's casual Ski With the Girls program provides opportunities for early intermediate through very accomplished skiers to gather and ski together in a non-competitive and fun environment. Friendly Alta skiers will welcome you and help with introductions, enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, and hit the slopes. Smaller groups may form based on terrain preferences and abilities. The gang meets every Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Baldy Brews, located on the snow level of Watson Shelter. Skiers can ride either Collins or Wildcat lifts to get to Baldy Brews. This program is free. You just need a lift ticket or season pass and any snacks you may want at the time of gathering.
JR Explorers (JRX) is a recreational skiing program for children 5-7 years old. Minimum skill level is confidently controlling speed with wedge turns on green runs. JR Explorers ski with the same group of coaches and peers over seven Sunday sessions starting Jan. 25, 9:30 am- 3:30 pm. Approximate coaching ratio is 1 to 6 participants. The skiing focus is to develop high quality skiing movements on mostly green and some blue terrain. Emphasis is on balancing movements, parallel turning, relaxed gliding and skiing with a confident and offensive attitude. $500. Call 801- 359-1078 (ext. 271).
Saturday Kinderbird Adventure Team helps your tot discover new levels of confidence and capability by sticking with the same coach during six Saturdays or Sundays. Adventure Team skiers and riders are grouped by ability to experience Snowbird's unique terrain and challenges. These are full day sessions with lunch included, and supervision is available before and after class.
Snowboarding will be offered to a limited number of 4- to 6-year-olds this season. The groups will focus on fundamentals and will spend time learning basics in Chickadee bowl until they are ready for the mountain. Younger students will require more individualized coaching, so students may rotate inside as other children rotate outside. Call 801-933-2170.
The Monday Kinderbird Adventure Team was started in conjunction with the Monday Women's Getaway. Knowing that your child will be having a blast learning to ski or ride while you do the same, makes for a great day on the hill for everyone. You'll both get six sessions with coaching from the same instructor.

Skills develop quickly in this series of Shredders' Camp lessons at Brighton, whether your children are first-timers or real hot-shots. What's more, parents get a $7 discount on their lift pass on lesson days. The five-day camp is offered to kids 8 - 15 years old and they are grouped according to age and skill level with classes limited to 10 students or fewer.
The Saturday series starts Feb. 21. Price is $325 and includes lunch. The five Sunday half-day sessions (12:45 - 3:45 p.m.) begin Feb. 22 and cost $275. For more information call 801-532-4731 ext. 209.
Younger kids (4 - 7 years old) can participate in the Little Rippers' Camp. This half-day only program meets consecutive Saturdays or Sundays to help children master skiing or snowboarding through continuous practice. Classes are limited to seven or fewer, and children are grouped by age and ability level. The next session starting Feb. 21. The Sunday session starts Feb. 22. The price is $275.
A $7 discount on a lift pass is available on lesson days for parents.
For older kids, try these Adult Workshops. These workshops focus on giving adults an affordable opportunity to explore new territory in skiing or snowboarding. Adults of all levels are welcome.

The Women's Workshops focus on the balance between comfort and exploring challenging conditions and terrain. The continuity of having the same group of women and the same female instructor each week lends to the special social atmosphere that develops in each class. $195 - Includes a full day lift pass for the day of each lesson, a light brunch on the first morning and a social following the last class.

The Snowbasin Snowsports Recreation Program is designed for the never ever skier/rider and the skier rider that desires to continue to develop their skills at all levels. Ages seven and up get four, two-hour sessions. $200 - $250.

Ladies Day Specialty Clinics at Sundance offer beginner to advanced skill level women the opportunity to learn to ski or snowboard, or simply improve their skills. The clinic offers four, half-day lessons lead and taught by top female ski and snowboard instructors. A buffet luncheon is offered after the last day of lessons. $240, includes full-day lift ticket.
Mothers may also enroll their children for a four -day program. The children must be 6-12 years of age for skiers, and 7-12 years of age for snowboarders to receive the discount. $170. Lunch will be offered to the children on the last day while the moms are enjoying their luncheon.
