All Aboard the Ski Train To Snowbasin

Scenic view of snow making at Snowbasin, Utah. Scenic view of snow making at Snowbasin, Utah.

Now you can get to Snowbasin without having to rent a car or bum a ride. Light rail trains depart Salt Lake City from the new downtown "Intermodal Hub" and makes the one-hour trip to Ogden Monday through Saturday. Snowbasin's express van service will pick you up at the Ogden depot and shuttle you to the mountain twice in the morning (8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.). The service is just for Front Runner riders so locals better not be thinking of showing up to the Depot and catching a ride. Service for local Ogdenites is not yet available although it should be.

Visitors who purchase a Front Runner ticket also will need to pay $10 for the shuttle service to the resort. The shuttle will be waiting for you at either time - no reservation required- even if you're the only one to ride.

The return trip to Salt Lake City will depart Snowbasin at 4:30 p.m. to board the Front Runner at 5:08 p.m. There is no Front Runner service on Sunday.

The concept of a "snow train" to Snowbasin is unique but seems well suited as Snowbasin is the closest Utah ski and snowboard resort to the Front Runner depots. Resort officials anticipate service to run through Saturday, April 11.

Contact Snowbasin at 801- 620-1000 for further information.
