It's 100-percent open as of last weekend. Having visited there last January when a thaw was occurring for much of the month across our region, I could see they were making snow every chance they got. Their slopes were in great shape, and there wasn't a speck of natural snow in the region. It has been a struggle for Midwest ski areas to get open this season. With winter returning many resorts and ski areas should be opening more terrain as fast as their snowguns can blow it out. For the moment winter is alive and well at Chestnut.
