Val d'Isere is hosting an array of activities and events this winter season. Highlights include live classical music performances, the World Alpine Ski Championships, and the Adventure and Discovery Film Festival.

The resort's two classical music festivals are to merge into one: ‘Classicaval' will take place Jan. 13-15 and March 10-12, 2009. The extended programme features internationally acclaimed musicians playing in the Saint Bernard de Menthon Baroque church.

The biggest event of the winter season is undoubtedly the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2009 in Val d'Isere from Feb. 2 to 15, 2009. This is a major event as the championships haven't been held in France since 1962. It promises to be spectacular as the men and ladies racecourses are to be set facing each other, according to the ‘Face to Face' concept. The formal prize giving for each event will take place on the evening of the race at 6 p.m.

The 13th edition of the Adventure and Discovery Film Festival will take place from April 20 to 23, 2009. Approximately ten films will be in the running for one of the prestigious titles in this festival which also includes exhibitions and question and answer sessions with the adventurers.
