Kitzbuhel is hosting a number of events for non-skiers this winter, including museum exhibitions, guided winter walks, and climbing courses.

The exhibition ‘On Snow' at the Museum Kitzbuhel is to mark the 50^th anniversary of Kitzbuhel artist, Alfons Walde's death. Walde's winter sports paintings are among the most famous of his entire collection. The Kitzbuhel Museum is displaying Walde's pictures alongside 22 modern artists' interpretation on the theme of ‘snow' through paintings, graphic art, photographs, and installations until April 11, 2009. A catalogue on climate research and the future of winter tourism accompanies the exhibition.

Free guided winter walks also are taking place in Kitzbuhel five times a week. Keen walkers should report to the Kitzbuhel Tourism Office at 9:45 a.m. Monday to Friday. The fee for snowshoes and walking sticks is €10 per person. Especially popular are the moonlight walks costing €15 per person.

Beginners' climbing courses are also taking place in Kitzbuhel between January and May 2009. Those interested in learning to climb should head to the Salewa KletterKitz Hall in the Mercedes Benz Sportpark at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
