The best time to learn to ski or snowboard is when you are a kid.
Mt. Hood Meadows has several multiday programs to ensure that your children get the best snowsports education possible.
One option is the Sno-Blasters program that is aimed at elementary school children and provides all-day supervision.
The kids enrolled in this program get the same instructor for four consecutive weekends, guaranteeing the children and the teacher get to know each other well and that helps accelerate the learning process.
For older kids, i.e. middle school age, there's a similar TrailBlazers program, which is aimed at young skiers and snowboarders who don't need all-day supervision - after a two-hour morning lesson, the ‘Blazers are free to explore Mt. Hood Meadows on their own or with family and friends.
The Sno-Blasters program costs $250 for lessons only, $325 for lifts and lessons $390 for the works (lifts, lessons and gear rental) and are available on four consecutive Saturdays (Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28) and Sundays (Feb. 8, 15, 22 and March 1).
The TrailBlazers rates run from $90 (lessons) to $215 (lift/lessons) to $305 (the works) and the program is available on the same dates as the Sno-Blasters.
Also, both programs have bus service available from the Portland metro area for an extra $135.
