The Sierra Avalanche Center, a Truckee-based non-profit that provides free daily avalanche forecasts for the Tahoe region, is bringing back its popular SAC Ski Days this season.

The SAC Ski Days are the largest fund-raising events held by the center, and the proceeds contribute the majority of the funds to the Sierra Avalanche Center's annual budget, which provides funds for staff salaries, equipment and daily operational expenses.

Not only do you help a vital information base, you get to ski or snowboard at Tahoe's best resorts for a relative pittance. Plus Tahoe National Forest avalanche forecasters will be on hand to answer any and all questions about their area of expertise.

Heavenly will host three SAC Ski Days - Jan. 20-22 - and will offer lift tickets for $45 per day. Mt Rose also will have a three-day deal Jan. 27-29 and will have $35 per-day lift tickets. Northstar will have $40 lift tickets available Jan. 25, Sugar Bowl (March 22), Alpine Meadows (March 29), and Kirkwood (April 5) will have $35 lift tickets on their respective SAC Ski Days.

There will only a limited number of SAC Ski Day lift tickets available, and information on how to purchase these tickets is available online.
