Experience The Good Life For A Good Cause Jan. 29 In Reno

Going for a spin at Sugar Bowl. Going for a spin at Sugar Bowl.

The 9th Winter Wine & Ski Expo, a popular fundraiser for the Jimmie Heuga Center - a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of people with multiple sclerosis - takes place Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno.

More than 40 vintners and brewers from around the West and some of Reno's top chefs will have samples to savor, and nearby mountain resorts such as Squaw Valley and Sugar Bowl and local sports shops will donate items to a silent auction.

Tickets for the three-hour event (6-9 p.m.) are $55 in advance and can be purchased by calling 775- 824-4467, by going online, or by dropping by Bobo's Mogul Mouse Ski & Board or the Whispering Vine Wine Company, both in Reno; the donation will be $65 the day of the event.

The money raised from the Winter Wine & Ski Expo helps to fund scholarships for individuals to attend the CAN Do Wellness Program, a whole-person approach to managing multiple sclerosis. Through teaching and emphasizing general health, physical fitness, and psychological well-being, the CAN DO program helps to show people with MS and their families how to focus on what people with MS can do instead of what they cannot do.
