More pre-xmas action for the Midwest, a mix of the "ugly" for the Northeast and another round of the good stuff for the West. Travel safe over the holiday and prepare for delays. RC

More action moves into the region today, bringing heavy snow and rain to the Cascades, Oregon and northern California (one to two feet is possible for the Sierra). As day turns to evening, the system moves into the Rockies and is followed up by yet another system that should make for a snowy and windy Christmas Day. Look for highs from the teens in the mountains to the mid 40's near the coast.

The Midwest region has seen almost record action over the last few weeks and today doesn't look to be any different. Heavy snow is in the forecast for parts of Iowa, southern Wisconsin and northern Michigan while the dreaded rain/snow/sleet mix continues to cause problems for Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. Travel today, much like yesterday, will be tricky. Plan ahead and stay safe.

Snow changes to sleet and freezing rain for a bulk of the region this morning and this will make for another dangerous travel day ahead of Christmas. This trend continues through the evening and it looks like areas of Maine and northwest PA will be the only ones able to hang on to any snow from the storm. This system will most likely delay travel in and out of the major Northeast cities, so plan ahead for delays both in the air and on the road.
