Zell Am See-Kaprun Hosts Gas Balloon Event Jan. 24-31

Zell am See-Kaprun will host its 30th BP Gas Balloon Trophy event Jan. 24 - 31, 2009. Hundreds of spectators will flock to the area to watch as numerous, colourful hot-air balloons rise up into the skies above the town.

This year is extra special as it marks the 30th anniversary of the event. The Zell am See Tourist Office says: "For the 30th time, teams of balloonists from all around the world are flocking to Zell am See-Kaprun to turn the ski into a sear of bright colours."

More than 40 teams from all over the globe participated in the 2008 BP Gas Balloon Trophy. The best balloonists will compete against each other in several contests. The 'Night Glow' will begin when the day draws to a close. There is also an entertaining supporting programme with activities for children and a wide choice of food and drink throughout the day.

Zell am See-Kaprun is enjoying a good start to the winter season with excellent early snowfall. The ski area offers 138 kilometres of downhill runs divided into 57 pistes of varying difficulty. There are also three snowparks for boarders, one featuring a six-metre-high superpipe. There's plenty of skiing and riding for everyone.
