For many Montanans, the best season pass rates and ticket deals only run through the end of September. Skiers and riders who want to get a season pass at a discount, take advantage of special pre-purchase ticket rates or buy a card that grants discounted tickets need to contact their local ski area to purchase those in the next few days.

Six of Montana's ski areas are offering season passes on sale through Sept. 30. Big Sky Resort, Discovery Ski Area, Lost Trail Powder Mountain, Red Lodge Mountain, Showdown Montana and Whitefish Mountain Resort plan to increase their pass rates starting Oct.1. Most of the areas offer the ability to buy passes online, an easy option for purchasing at the last minute before sale rates expire.

Bridger Bowl keeps season passes on sale through Oct. 11, but those who purchase their passes by the Sept. 30 deadline can qualify for the Bobcat Bonus or Ski Mambo Combo gift cards. In order to qualify, passes must be purchased online.

In addition to season passes on sale, Big Sky Resort offers the Frequent Sky Card at a sale rate through Oct. 31. The $49 card gives a discount on lift tickets purchased at the window during the season and free skiing during the first and last weeks of the season. After the sale, the card will cost $89 or $139, depending on the date of purchase.

Two Montana ski areas are also offering pre-purchased tickets on sale through Sept. 30. The tickets or passes offer a way to ski a few times during the season by paying less than daily ticket rates. Showdown Montana has five- and 10-time passes available for adults, juniors and seniors. Big Sky also offers transferable Powder Paks in five- and 10-ticket amounts.

Other Montana ski areas are running their season pass sales until later this fall. Moonlight Basin offers sale rates until Oct. 16 while Blacktail Mountain, Teton Pass and Lookout Pass keep their sale prices until Oct. 31. Great Divide runs their sale until Nov. 30.
